Solutions Architect Pre–Sales
Position Summary
As a pre-sales Solutions Architect with Data Intensity your job will be to provide thought leadership and solution design during various phases of the pre-sales cycle. This includes but is not limited to understanding and gathering: Cloud or Remote solution requirements, Professional Services scope development, and working with existing customers on modifications to their deployments.
Oracle enterprise applications and database management is a primary focus. You will be expected to maintain a high level of communication with both customers and internal departments at DI (including Sales, Finance/ Contracts, Operations and other staff).
Position Responsibilities
- Act in a trusted advisor role with prospects and customers to understand their application and business requirements
- Develop service based solutions around Oracle Application and Database management
- Work on existing contract renewals including scope discovery, resizing, pricing and recommendations
- Prepare technical design documentation with Visio/Gliffy
- Guide and communicate to operational staff regarding solution design/intent
- Drive incremental revenue through development of solutions for customers
- Prioritize and maintain sales support requests and communicate status/progress
- Project manage the pre-sales quoting process among various functions including Professional Services, Operations, Engineering and Finance
- Lead the Request For Proposal/Information responses with various internal teams
- Responsible for hand-off to the Project Management Office upon closure of new business
Business & Technical Skills Qualifications
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Oracle Application and Database implementation methodologies (Oracle EBS 11i, R12;OBIEE 10g, 11g, 12c; Oracle RDBMS 10i, 11i, 12c)
- Experience in consultative selling approach
- Excellent communication skills (written, presentation and verbal)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with the pre-sales lifecycle for managed services and consulting industries
- Understanding of virtualization (Oracle VM preferred, Xen, VMware, Hyper-V)
- Understanding of cloud landscape, customer use cases, and operational understanding of one or more of Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle IaaS/PaaS and others
- Understanding of disaster recovery solutions for Oracle applications (data backup, Data Guard, GoldenGate & storage replication)
- Understanding of Oracle Technology Licensing (DB, FMW, Add-on and others)
- Understanding of Engineered Systems
- Good technical documentation skills
- Self-starter and strong work ethic for doing what it takes to complete or resolve requests with integrity and an appropriate sense of urgency
Education and Other Qualifications
- Strong presentation and customer-facing skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple pre-sales engagements at a time
- Ability to take ownership and drive projects/tasks/sales opportunities to completion
- Ability to handle high pressure situations and maintain professional demeanor
- Experience in a service provider environment or business with many internally supported units
- B.S. or 5+ years of experience working in an Oracle Applications & DB setting with pre-sales experience
This role may requires access to customer environments as a means of providing the necessary support to resolve an issue or inquiries into performance-related issues, or for periodic maintenance and management of the systems. In some instances, these environments may contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (e.g., such as HIPAA-related Personal Health Information – PHI) and Payment Card Information (PCI). Personnel are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in protecting PII.
